A very hot chocolate variant Habanero, has a staggering 300,000 to 425,000 Scoville units. Tastes slightly sweet with a hint of smoky – that’s similar to other “chocolate” chilli varieties like chocolate bhut jolokia and chocolate scorpion peppers. Used with extreme care, it’s delicious in extreme barbecue sauces, hot sauces, and marinades.

Named after its beautiful deep rich brown colour that it ripens to. It almost looks like a chocolate drop!

It is popular in Jamaican cuisine and its unique rich, smoky flavour is unlike other chilli peppers. The plant grows up to 1 metre tall and produces fruit, 4-6 cm long. It has a long growing season, most suitable for growing in a greenhouse or polytunnel.
